20 in 2020

I won't be doing another 101 list for a while, but in the meantime I've been doing a 20 in 2020 list for this year...kind of. It's nothing serious at all. I don't think I'll do anything huge with it on here, but I decided to post it anyway to document it and keep myself a little more accountable. Read scriptures once a week Make my business logo Throw away/organize storage, papers, excess, memories, etc. New wardrobe (throw away HS clothes!!) Get back on a consistent AIP/Paleo lifestyle Playing Preschool regularly with Daisy Get new glasses Toddler feeding course Have a baby Write in journal once every 1-2 weeks Indexing 6 times Finish Katamari Read 10 new books Take a watercolor class Start and keep up a walking/yoga routine Find a together hobby/fun thing/interest Go to therapy Recycling and reducing waste Decorations/pictures in our house Eat a macaron Some things are a little vague, but like I said, it's not serious and I'm

Did it Again - 101.2

Image
This is months late, but I did it! I lived another 1001 days trying to accomplish 101 goals :) And my final tally was...45 out of 101! Here's the list of everything I completed ! My goal going into this was trying to get 35 done, and I did 10 better! I think that's even double my original list tally. I'd count that as a success FOR SURE. Originally I wanted to write up a huge post for this going through all my thoughts/feelings/etc. buuuuuut.....procrastinating and then being only a week away from having a baby will make you change things. So I'm going to keep this short and sweet (which actually works with what I'm going to write next haha). This past 2.5ish years have been pretty eventful - mentally, emotionally, and even physically. I feel like I've grown a lot in that time - because of all those events and also because of this list. I think the biggest takeaway for me this time around is that I realized that I make some things a lot harder for mysel

Completed - Savings

Image
93. Save $10 for every item completed (3/31/20) We have enough in savings to count this as complete based on what I've accomplished. It's really Jonathan who made this one one possible though. He manages our savings really well :) Last one complete and last one I needed to write up! Hooray for being finished!!

Completed - Lettering Decor

Image
1. Learn a style of lettering and create a piece of decor (6/15/19) Another late post, but I realized I totally did this! I have it in our kitchen and it's really the only form of decoration hanging up in our house. I'm referring to the blue "Meals" and "To-Do" things, by the way. The middle quote was done by Sara and it's my favorite and it's amazing, but I didn't do it haha :) And I did the "meals" one back in January 2019, and the "to-do" one later. Buuuut I'm not quite sure when, so I just picked a date in the middle of that year because I know it took a while to finish it up :) This is an insanely simple style of lettering, but it still counts even if it wasn't what I had in mind when I made this goal. But I used my brush pens and made it cute along the edge and everything! So yay! Done :)

Completed - 5 Museums

70. Attend 5 new museums (3/31/20) 1. BYU Art Museum (12/2/17) - Went with Jonathan, Daisy, and Mike to see the M.C. Escher exhibit. Super cool and so fun to go with my artist brother! 2. Bean Museum (3/12/19) - Took Daisy to look at animals, but she just thought most of them were scary and wanted to play on the slide. 3. White Bluffs Quilt Museum (4/26/19) - This was more a place for quilting enthusiasts to sew together, take classes, and sell/display their work. They did have a few quilting and sewing artifacts, but the real joy was three lovely old ladies telling us about quilting, looms, and spinning. They were a delight. What an experience it was haha :) 4. Museum of Natural Curiosity (8/1/19) - Daisy and I got invited to this museum by our lovely neighbors Chantelle and Kenadie! Kenadie and Daisy are best friends, they are SO cute together. Chantelle and I talked while the girls just ran around playing with things. It was such a cool museum, and I wish there was

Completed - Words to Famous People

36. Prepare something I would say to 3-5 famous people I would like to meet (10/10/19) For this, I really had to think about who I thought was "famous". I ended up picking three people/groups that have affected me a lot, while most might not think of them as famous. I chose Shannon Hale (my favorite author), Rhett and Link (my favorite YouTubers), and The Arcadian Wild (one of my new favorite bands). I'm not going to put exactly what I wrote/prepared for them here, but I was able to actually "tell" two of them the things I wanted to say! I sent an Instagram message to The Arcadian Wild, essentially saying thank you for their lyrics and music. When I was introduced to them, their lyrics made such a huge impact on me and just made me feel seen and safe and so happy. For Shannon Hale, I wrote her a thank you card! I was able to hear her speak, but figured I wouldn't be able to actually talk with her. When I got to the "photo-op" portion I just h

Completed - First Aid Kit

Image
94. First aid kit in home and car (4/10/19) I had basically everything I needed, I just finally got it all organized and put away. There are a few things I think I should add, replace, and maybe even remove, but I'm going to call this good! Later I even organized the closet more and it's so much easier to know what we have. I kept forgetting to write up this one, and I finished it so long ago! Glad I took photos so I could figure out when it actually was haha :)   This one went in the car... ...and this one is in our hall closet! :)

Completed - 51 Movies

Image
85.  Watch 51 new movies, at least 15 award-winning (3/15/20) I originally had this at 51 with 15 award-winning, then I switched to 101 with 20 award-winning, and now that I'm done with my list, I'm going back to the original goal haha :) I watched some really good movies, and I've learned that there are lots of awards that can be won. When I finally started researching some at the end, I think I could have found at least 5 more movies I watched that have won awards. I thought I didn't have enough and went all the way to 61 movies (although I'm sure I missed some too) but I think I could have finished this one sooner. Anywhoooo! Here are the movies I watched over the last few years! 1. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (7/9/17) 2. Hidden Fortress (7/12/17) 3. Sanjuro (7/20/17) 4. The Lego Batman Movie (7/22/17) 5. Cinderella - Live Action (7/23/17) *1 - 2016 Saturn Award for Best Fantasy Film 6. Beauty and the Beast - Live Action (7/29/17) 7. Shin Godzilla (8

Completed - Camping

Image
40. Go camping (7/17/19) I wasn't sure if I would be able to pass this one off, but then I got invited to go to Girl's Camp with my ward! Honestly, girl's camp was the main reason I ever went camping in the past, so it was fitting that this was how I completed this one. And I even had to borrow camping gear from my parents - the same stuff I used at girl's camp growing up! Even more ironic, we went to the camp my mom went to as a girl's camper: Mia Shalom. Cute, right? I don't think I'm going to go into lots of details, besides one story, but I really enjoyed this camping trip! Something different for me was that we were in CABINS. It was weird to not have to set up a tent, but definitely very nice to stay warm and free from bugs! Because there were a LOT of bugs. We even had lots of tick warnings, so we didn't get to go on any hikes. (Which was fine with me because, health problems.) We jokingly called bug spray "Shalom No. 5" because we wo

Completed - Canoeing

Image
88. Go kayaking/canoeing (7/18/19) I tried getting pictures of this, but there were hundreds of photos that someone else had to sift through. I didn't want to bug someone with that, so unfortunately no pictures. But! I did it! I went canoeing :D It was the best. It was at girl's camp, and I was one of the only leaders who was like "I'M DOING THIS". I was so surprised that there was a chance for canoeing at girl's camp, and it was such a fun surprise! I love canoeing. I love being able to glide through the water and just feel the breeze and be in nature. Getting an arm workout is fine too haha :) I would like to be able to do this with my family - I think Daisy would LOVE it - but I was glad I was able to get this one done! It had been way too long.

Complete - 12 Projects

57. 12 Months of 30 Day Projects (1/31/20) Took me long enough to finish this one!! But I'm so glad and proud that I did it! I got half way through and had a bit of a breakdown, but after simplifying it and not putting so much stress on myself, I think it ended up going well. I think I would definitely do 30 day projects periodically in the future, but one right after the other might not be the greatest for me right now. Overall, I had a really good experience and learned a lot about myself. It was just fun too! :) Below I linked all The Me Monthly updates where stuff is written out. I was going to just copy and paste, but it got REALLY long. I didn't write out Project 12 in an update, so it's just chilling at the bottom. Project 1 Start Project 1 Finish & Project 2 Start Project 2 Finish & Project 3 Start Project 3 Continuing & Project 4 Start Project 3 Finish, Project 4 Finish, & Project 5 Start Project 5 Finish & Project 6 Start Pr

Completed - 52 Reasons

Image
100. Make a "52 Reasons Why I Love You" book for Jonathan (2/14/20) I love my cute husband and I wanted him to know a bunch of reasons why - in writing! I had planned to do this over a whole year by writing one thing every week and then making a little book. I ended up writing one thing per day from Christmas to Valentine's (which is exactly 52 days!) and designing my own playing cards instead! Here's a little sample :) I really enjoyed doing this! I think it helped me be a little more patient during some rough moments we had during those 52 days, and it was fun to find simple, specific reasons why I love Jonathan. He's a wonderful, caring, hilarious, person and he's just my favorite!

The Me Monthly - Volume 28

Image
ME THIS MONTH It's been a minute! Let me just say that me working outside of our house is not something that works very well for our family right now. It also doesn't help when you get pregnant, you are in a UC flare, and there are many other recurring issues going on at the same time. I'm very lucky and blessed to be able to work from home normally, and we're so happy that our situation also includes Jonathan having a good job. It lowers a lot of stress for all of us when I can be home (especially me). While 2020 has also been a bit of a roller coaster so far, it's been a lot more mild than other recent months. Needless to say, I was very happy to start a new year. And now a bulleted list of some things that happened since my last update: October • Jonathan got a new job at Purple on a team doing 3rd-party supply chain stuff. It's been a really awesome change for us and he really enjoys working there! • Found out I was pregnant!! • Daisy dressed up a

Completed - New Printer

Image
99. Get a better printer (9/1/19) One morning while still chilling in bed, Jonathan was reading an IGN article about printers and we found a well-reviewed one that was on sale for basically half off! So we bought it. It got delivered and worked way better than our old printer (which didn't print in black) but then within a month it stopped printing in color for some reason. I tried lots of different things to fix it, then kind of gave up. We print in black more often anyway!...still kind of annoying though haha :P But today I tried one more time, even willing to call HP support, when I finally found a solution on a forum that worked! (Thank you random citizen with the same printer as me.) So we truly have a better printer now and I can print whatever I want!

Completed - 15 Eateries

86. Go to 15 new eateries (1/4/20) This was a wonderful goal and I thoroughly enjoyed it :) I ate some REALLY good food. I love going to new restaurants, but sometimes I have a hard time making choices. I've learned that looking up menus before I go somewhere is a good idea for me so I don't get decision-making paralysis. Throughout this I had a few huge gaps because of my AIP diet and then a bunch of new places all at once during "off" days, so I'm glad I was able to complete this one! My favorite place out of all of them was probably Foodies Brick & Mortar. If you're ever near/in Tri-Cities, WA, GO THERE. 1. Station 22 (10/13/17)   I got Mac and Cheese with pulled pork. It was pretty good! 2. Koi Express (12/18/17)   I got miso ramen and sushi (Vegas roll). They were AMAZING!! 3. The Baked Bear (3/23/18)   I got funfetti cookies with cake batter ice cream - yummy but expensive. 4. Asa Ramen (5/19/18)   I got Tonkotsu/Shoyu Ramen and tried the Cha

Completed - 51 Games

49. Play 51 new games, at least 15 award-winning (11/28/19) We really love board and video games at our house and this goal has been a great opportunity for me to spend time with Jonathan and our friends/family. It was interesting to see differences and similarities in games that are award-winning and ones that weren't. But whether a game was a hit or miss, I seriously enjoyed so many of them and I'm glad I have this list to reference :)  1. Freedom: The Underground Railroad (7/15/17) 2. Zombicide: Black Plague (8/5/17) 3. Mystery of the Abbey (8/6/17) 4. Punderdome (8/11/17) 5. Overcooked (8/11/17) 6. Katamari Forever (9/1/17) 7. Agricola (9/10/17) *1 - Spiel des Jahres, Best Complex Game 2008* 8. Terror in Meeple City (11/11/17) 9. Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig (11/10/17) 10. Scythe (12/17/17) *2 -  2016 Golden Geek Board Game of the Year Winner + others* 11. 7 Wonders Duel (12/25/17) *3 -  2015 Golden Geek Best 2-Player Board Game Winner + others* 1
