Completed - Personal Logo

Image
41. Design a personal logo/brand (12/6/2017) So after finally deciding on a name for my Etsy shop, obviously a logo is next! I knew I wanted to make it simple and clean, while still having it capture the feel of my shop. I thought that doing a graphic with text wouldn't work as well for what I was going for, so I decided to just do text.  I also initially did a version with a quilt block behind it, but when asking people which they liked better, the plain text won every time. But I spent a lot of work on it so I'll probably end up using it somewhere ;) I really like the handwritten fonts that are popular right now, especially when used in script/sans serif combos.  I picked 5-10 fonts of each type and started pairing them up.  I honestly thought it would take me a lot longer to decide on fonts ( because I have a lot and I'm picky ), but I feel like these two were just made for each other. The script is called " Huh! Girls " and the sans serif is called &q

Completed - Start an Etsy shop

UPDATE: On January 19th I finally put up some listings! I have a shop AND I have things in it! We'll see how this goes :) 38. Start an Etsy shop (12/1/2017) I FINALLY PICKED A NAME!! All it took was insomnia! I was awake until about 3 AM on the 1st and during that time I was brainstorming. (It's amazing what you can do when you have nothing to distract you.) I wanted a name that was unique and that had some meaning behind it. To do that, I tried looking for ideas relating to something I liked, to my design style/abilities, or to my experiences and life. Some of my brainstorming (past and present): Daisy-related Sunshine/happy things flowers - especially roses or tulips my name + design/design studio twists of my name (backwards, scrambled, etc) "Kind of Creative" And a slew of other random words Around 2 AM, my thoughts went to my vitiligo. Maybe I could do a name related to that? It is literally something about me. In all honesty, my skin conditi

The Me Monthly - Volume 5

ME THIS MONTH This month was BUSY. Hence the later-than-I'd-like posting of my monthly update with a little-less-than-I'd-like amount of info on here. I've been working a ton, my little brother got married, Thanksgiving happened, and we've just had some extra stuff with friends and family. All good things, but all make for a busy month. I'm just tired. But December isn't going to be much different, so I need to buckle up! At least I have Christmas to look forward to! Eating:   the best homemade mac and cheese I have ever had. Seriously it's amazing. Link! Making :  our Christmas ornament for the year! We swirled paint in clear ball ornaments to represent us being more creative this year. Enjoying :  our Christmas decorations and tree! Listening: to the Carpenter's Christmas album! It's not Christmas without it :) (obviously right after Thanksgiving, Christmas was all that mattered haha) THE FOCUS GROUP So I've gotten into a winter

The Me Monthly - Volume 4

ME THIS MONTH October was full of lots of last minute, very involved events. I helped my old work for a few afternoons, with notice only the day before that I was needed. I decided to go to St. George for my soon-to-be sister-in-law's bridal shower just a few days before it happened. And I did some "we need this as soon as possible" photo optimization for work. I also designed another wedding invitation, so there were multiple weeks where as soon as Daisy was in bed I would start working until late. And I have been slightly procrastinating another big project, but I finally buckled down and it's nearly finished. Working from home is great, but sometimes it can be very tiring. In the middle of the month, Daisy and I got fevers and colds. Not fun, but I think we're basically recovered now. Overall it was a good month, but it went by super fast! Halloween is tomorrow! I'm super lame and not even Daisy has a costume. I wanted to dress her as a character from

The Me Monthly - Volume 3

Before I started these, I decided that I would give myself a day or two before/after the last day of the month to post them. So here's this one - right on the edge of my deadline!  ME THIS MONTH September has been great! We took a trip to St. George towards the beginning of the month, just for fun! We hadn't been down there in a while and my parents hadn't seen Daisy in months, so we just wanted to hang out :) We went to a park, the carousel, and Daisy had lots of fun with her cousins. Jonathan and I also spent some time on Saturday night going on a little date to Sweet Tooth Fairy and to a board game store, where we bought a game called Agricola. It's a very involved, strategic, long game, but it's super fun. I honestly don't want to write out everything else that happened, so here's a cute bulleted list :) Other things of note this month: • Completed 5 things from my list! I felt so accomplished! • Finished Gilmore Girls! (I did have a few issues

Completed - Curtains Figured Out

Image
54. Figure out the deal with curtains  (9/4/2017) (After getting both sets of curtains up, I decided to wait to say this one was "done" until after I got curtains for the kitchen too. But...technically the thing was to "figure out the deal with curtains" not "get curtains up everywhere you want them". And after doing both these windows, especially the big one, I think I have successfully "figured out with deal with curtains". It just took me a little while to come to this conclusion, so it is out of order in terms of completedness. Kind of bugs me, but I'll move on. haha) Back at the end of March, we were looking to move to a bigger place. We loved our ward and neighborhood, but we just felt cramped. With both of us on computers a lot for work/education we needed an office, in addition to the two rooms for sleeping baby and parents. Within a month, we had found a duplex and were moving. However, this lovely little place has MASSIVE win

Completed - Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle Books

Image
14. Acquire all the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books (9/23/2017) I remember reading the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books multiple times in elementary school. They were always some of my favorites. I've always wanted to own them. You can easily get a set online, but I'm kind of picky. They say to not judge a book by its cover, but I do. If there's a book I grew up reading, I want the same cover as the ones I read back then. I was the same way with The Chronicles of Narnia and the Goose Girl series, and I was with these too. Luckily, there's a wonderful site called thriftbooks.com  that has tons of books for sale from old libraries, individual sellers, etc. including lots of older books - with the older covers! I put the original Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle boxed set on my wishlist and watched it like a hawk. It said on the listing that they only have one or two available every few months. When I went to buy Daisy's book this month, I double checked it and it was there! Very good con

Completed - Make Raspberry Peach Jam

Image
52. Make raspberry peach jam (9/16/2017) My very good friend Amanda and I have known each other for about 10 years. I remember going to her house in middle and high school and they always had the best jam ever. I always wished that I had some of my very own, and I've always wanted to learn how to make jam/can fruit. So this goal accomplished more than one wish of mine! The recipe and process was easier than I thought it would be, and it went faster with two sets of hands. We got together at about 9:30 on Saturday morning to go hunting for peaches and shopping for raspberries and jars. We were thinking of going to the farmer's market, but then we ended up finding a fruit stand on our way to get canning jars and stopped there to save time. We got a huge box of really good peaches for $22! And we helped the lady figure out the technology she was trying to use to process cards haha :)  When we got back to my house, we went right to work. I was more grateful for my count

Completed - Go to a Fair

Image
47. Go to a festival or fair (9/11/2017) For this goal, I went to the Utah State Fair! I feel like I got the full experience, minus the rides, and it was FUN!! To document this one I will be posting LOTS of pictures, some featuring my terrible posing.  Enjoy! Dairy Council of Utah's Ice Cream Tent (aka - heaven) We paid $3 and got to eat as much ice cream as we wanted!!    Sheep, Goats, and Cows, oh my! I have a new love for sheep and goats. This one had a twin that was jumping on a trampoline. They were 5 days old and SO CUTE!! I don't understand how they judge fruits and vegetables. Unless they just pick the biggest ones... HUGE sunflower. That's a 6ft ladder. There were many kind of art, including a butter sculpture! And there were so many amazing cross stitch pieces! I may try to put one into the state fair.. No fair would be complete without something deep fried. Jonathan chos
