Completed - Personal Logo

41. Design a personal logo/brand (12/6/2017)

So after finally deciding on a name for my Etsy shop, obviously a logo is next! I knew I wanted to make it simple and clean, while still having it capture the feel of my shop. I thought that doing a graphic with text wouldn't work as well for what I was going for, so I decided to just do text. I also initially did a version with a quilt block behind it, but when asking people which they liked better, the plain text won every time. But I spent a lot of work on it so I'll probably end up using it somewhere ;)

I really like the handwritten fonts that are popular right now, especially when used in script/sans serif combos. I picked 5-10 fonts of each type and started pairing them up. I honestly thought it would take me a lot longer to decide on fonts (because I have a lot and I'm picky), but I feel like these two were just made for each other. The script is called "Huh! Girls" and the sans serif is called "Cutie". I added in the spacing between the letters on that one.

And finally - I know black is elegant, simple, and professional, but I just like color! For some reason whenever I've tried to do logos/websites for myself in the past I've always used a light orange, coral, or salmon color. Yellow is my favorite color, but the shade I like best is kind of hard to see against a white screen. Maybe I gravitated toward the orange because it still gave me the same feeling but was easier to see. Either way, while I had some hangups at first ("Just keep it black, it will be clean and simple and classy", "You probably wouldn't use this color for anything else, so you probably don't actually like it"), I looked up color meanings, I thought about how it made me feel, and finally decided that, "Heck, it's my logo, I'll do what I want!" Although I did have to do a black version for my Instagram photo because they compress the heck out of photos and it looked WAY pixelated in color. I'll most likely use the black one fairly frequently though :)

And there you have it! Logo designed!....still need to design actual content to sell, but I'm getting there!
