Purchase Decisions | #54 - iTunes Gift Cards

54. Use my iTunes gift cards - DONE 2/7/17 I had two $10 gift cards to use. I started this one back in October of 2014, but because I later regretted my first purchase, I waited a long time to finish it. The first album I bought was All This Bad Blood by Bastille. I really liked a few of their songs, so I just decided to get the whole album because it was on sale for $11. A few months later, I decided I should have just bought the few songs I liked. I could have used the money for some other songs I liked more. The last $9 I just barely spent yesterday! I found The Lumineers album on sale for $7 and bought it. I was on the Ho Hey craze for a little while, but then I started listening to their whole album on Spotify. All their other songs are so much better! I will probably I then had enough for one more song, so I bought On the Radio by Regina Spektor. I've wanted this song for a while. And I listened to it twice - cause the DJ was asleeeeeEEp :) Now I just wait for the n

Roll with It | #55 - Sushi

55. Eat sushi - DONE 1/14/17 I feel like sushi is something that either people like or don't like. Up until about 5 years ago, I probably wouldn't have even considered trying it. I don't mind seafood, but I wasn't sure about the flavors and seaweed and rawness of fish and everything of sushi. But I've been trying to be more open about eating new/different foods, and I was interested to see if I would like it. After I brought up this item at a game night, Sara, the ever-wonderful-helper-of-list-completing, suggested we go to lunch! We went to a place called Shoga Japanese Sushi Bar. They have a lunch special where you can get two kinds of sushi (6-8 rolls each) for a pretty good price. Between Sara, Garrett, and I, we got 6 different rolls to share. (Jonathan is not a sushi fan. He got chicken, his first love.) We also got miso soup (first time having tofu!), edamame, and croquettes, which were all great. And then out rolled the sushi! It's just so pret

Can this be our appetizer? | #93 - Dessert First

Image
93. Order dessert first at a restaurant - DONE 1/2/17 Restaurants usually have fantastic dessert options, but I'm always too full to order anything. And so, with the saying "eat dessert first" as a driving force, I set this goal. And then forgot about it. every. single. time. I. ate. out. I'm a noob. When I started trying to catch up on blog posts, I reread my list and remembered this one. I was determined to remember the next time I was at a restaurant. And it just so happened that the next time I ate out was our anniversary! Dessert first was a great way to treat ourselves :) Jonathan had the day off (the nice thing about getting married the day after the 1st), but we had recently spent the majority of our funds on hospital bills and baby stuff, so we just kept it chill this year. For our 2-year celebration activities, we went to a movie (Dr. Strange), and then ate out at Olive Garden. We were seated pretty soon, and when the waitress asked us if we want

Half Credit? | #86 - Blood Type and #58 - Savings

86. Donate blood and find out my blood type - DONE-ish 3/16   58. $1500 in savings account - DONE-ish 10/16 I got sooooo close to accomplishing these two. Should I modify them and count them both? Is that allowed? (Sara? haha) I feel like I should at least count them together as one completed item - half credit each! So I wasn't able to donate blood, but I had to get some blood tests while I was pregnant and that allowed me to find out my blood type! I'm an A+. Jonathan is an A-. After I found out we joked about how my blood has better grades than his. On the savings account, we were able to get up to $1300 until a root canal and hospital bills required us to use it. So yeah, I got pretty close. I'll decide within the week how I want to count them. But at least they're documented!

Create it! Use it! | #49 - Design for Real Life

Image
49. Create something in Photoshop/Illustrator that is used in real life - DONE 9/2016 (2014?) "Real life" hahaha :) I crack myself up. I think my real goal for this one was that I just wanted to design something that wasn't for a school project. So this one is kind of hard to pinpoint an exact date. And I forgot it was on my list so that's why it's being posted now instead of earlier. I probably passed it off around the time I started at BizCard, probably in September 2014. My first projects there were a t-shirt for a 12 Step addiction program and some business cards. We used a program similar to Illustrator, but it did basically the same things. But because it wasn't specifically Illustrator, maybe I shouldn't count it... Either way, I still passed it off! I currently create lots of images using Photoshop AND Illustrator for my current job. They're used primarily on social media. So if I just count my current job it would be also in September, j

Adulting | #8 - Buy a Car

Image
8. Buy a car - DONE 2/6/16 My first two cars were pretty crappy. The first one I had one of those little Saturns that you see everywhere. The driver's window didn't go down (one of its many quirks), which made for some interesting drive-thru experiences. My second car was a Mitsubishi Galant. It had even more quirks. The inside lights didn't work, you had to use a special move to open the passenger door, there were stains and (most likely) cigarette burns throughout the car, and both side mirrors were glued/screwed in their respective positions. (One of them came off in a car wash!) The (back of the) Saturn and the (wedding trashed) Galant   This car is also one of the main reasons why we decided to buy a car. We were just getting it changed over to my name and had to do emissions. Southern Utah doesn't require emissions, and because it was in my dad's name, I hadn't needed to do that for the last 2 years. But in doing that, it was discovered that
