Completed - Alone at the Movies
80. Go to the movies alone (8/23/2017)
So I got this idea from a friend's list, but I thought it would be fun to make it kind of like a date with myself too!
I chose to go to an 8:30 showing of Wonder Woman. I got "dressed up" - i.e. I didn't wear a basic t-shirt or comfy pants, I straightened my hair, and I wore cute sandals - the only time I dress up this much or more is on Sunday. Then I took myself to one of my most favorite places - Sweet Tooth Fairy! I wanted to get something different, so I tried their "cupshake" where they mix a cupcake (I chose red velvet, my favorite) with vanilla ice cream. It was pretty good, but honestly I think I should have just gotten the cupcake haha :) Would have saved me like $2 and I've had way too much ice cream lately. But! I tried it and now I know.
While eating my dessert, I stayed there and tried to brainstorm ideas for a business name for myself. It is so hard and I am SO picky. Unfortunately, I did not bring headphones so I got distracted by the little family reunion that was happening between two sisters and their grandparents. I originally thought, "it's Wednesday night, no one will be there...and they play great music, so I should be good!" And yet I got a chat fest. But it was fine :) I still enjoyed myself and wrote some stuff that I think will help me.
Then I went to the movie! When I bought my ticket online there was no one in the theater and I thought it would be cool if I was by myself...but I got there and alas, there were others there. And someone came late and sat right in front of me so I couldn't put my feet up. Jonathan warned me to choose one of the seats with the bar in front, but I chose a middle seat. And I tried to be cute and picked E8 because my name starts with an "E" and my birthday is the 8th...should have listened to my husband. Note to self - don't try to be cutesy when picking movie theater seats.
(I know I've brought up some stuff that could be seen as me complaining, but it was part of the story. Not everything goes the way you think it will, but those things add to the experience - and it all just made me laugh!)
I really liked the movie! It had a lot of horses in it, some good messages,, the action was pretty cool, and Gal Gadot is fantastic. However, I wasn't a fan of the ending. I feel like it was rushed and that the "reason/message" she had at the end generalized the other messages and ideas presented throughout the movie. The fight with the bad guy was also kind of "eh". It wasn't very exciting to me - all the other action had been way cooler.
It was kind of nice, but also kind of weird going to a movie alone. I didn't get as distracted because I wasn't whispering comments to anyone, and I could take over both arm rests. But then it also wasn't as fun for me because I couldn't make comments to anyone during or after the movie. I'm a social movie-watcher. I don't think I would go to a movie alone again anytime soon, but I would be totally fine doing it again!

Cute!! I've wanted to go to a movie alone for a while, my brother has done a few times and always talks about how awesome it is. But I haven't done it because I've figured it would be more like what you described - fun, but kind of weird! Haha. Good for you for trying it though!!
ReplyDeleteYeah...another reason I felt weird was just because of the social aspect - what was everyone thinking about me being there alone?? (Probably nothing haha but still!)
DeleteBut it really was nice! You should do it!
