Completed - Another Design Client
13. Get another design client (8/22/17)
I so did not think I would be passing this one off already. I'm very happy, but also very surprised! It happened so suddenly and without me needed to really do anything! Story time!
My other "client" is a company called Oil Life. (It's my job...but I'm like a contracted worker so they're also a client...right? Sure. Anyway!) I do most of their social media graphics, but also some other random things when their in-house designer has too much to do. They have a big convention coming up so I've been doing a lot more than normal - mostly banners, a few flyers, etc. They also offered to design a "tear pad" for someone - we'll call him CJ - who is also helping them with something at the convention. (Tear pads are just sheets of information for doTERRA consultant people. Also, I don't know why I'm not going to give the guy's name, but I'm just not.) Because this falls in the "extra random design" realm, it was given to me to do!
Long story short, CJ liked it so much that he asked if I would be willing to work with him more! He is a motivational speaker/trainer person, and he said that he usually has a few things a month that he wants designed. Mostly simple documents relating to his business, but I just finished up some banners for him as well. I'm way excited to be able to do more design and get paid for it!
Speaking of getting paid, I hate telling people what to pay me. It's so hard! I know that designers can make anywhere from $40-80/hour, or WAY more, but I feel so bad asking for that much. And I feel like with my experience and with the level of work that I do, I can't reasonably ask for that much yet. And weirdly I feel bad asking for that much when I'm having fun haha :)
While I'm not the greatest designer ever and I won't change the world, or start a new trend, or be able to do the coolest things, and I want to learn much more - I feel good about what I can do and I LIKE what I do. Thankfully a few other people do too, so I can also get paid something for it. So I'm happy!
