The Me Monthly - Volume 10

Image
ME THIS MONTH For all the folks following along - I got my colonoscopy. It was QUITE the experience. The week of was probably one of the worst weeks we've ever had at our house. Daisy had a cold, none of us really got any sleep (I'm pretty sure I got maybe 10 hours in 3 days) , and it seemed like everything was going wrong. During my colonoscopy prep - all liquid diet, then a gallon of laxative the night before - I threw up. That laxative stuff is one of the nastiest things I have ever tasted. Because I threw it up, I couldn't get my colonoscopy the next day and had to do an extra day of prep. Luckily they let me do a laxative with Gatorade instead. It obviously tasted way better, but I threw that up too :( I was so worried I wouldn't get to have it done and that I would have to do this all over again. (Imagine that, hoping you're ready for a colonoscopy.) Luckily the next morning I kept the other half of the prep down and when I got to the hospital they said...

Completed - Blackhead Removal Mask

Image
92. Do a blackhead-removal mask (4/28/2018) I have blackheads! I also have fairly small pores/tight skin, so it's kind of hard to get them out. I've done pore strips for years and they never do much. I see ads for these blackhead removal masks all the time and they seem to get such good results! Buuuut it was a bust. I guess this is what I get for buying something that was advertised to me on Facebook. I was pretty sure it wouldn't work, but I still wanted to try it! So I took a shower, washed my face, and slathered a ton of of this stuff on my face. At least I thought it was a ton. After I waited the 20-30 minutes, it dried pretty thin and it took me a while to get a peel going. And then - nothing. Well, except little tiny hairs. I seriously didn't get ANY blackheads. Although my face was really smooth after and it also didn't hurt, so those things were nice. (Also I discovered that I don't have any headbands...I should get one so I don't have to use b...

Completed - Daisy's Birth Story

Image
79. Write up Daisy's birth story (4/24/2018) Because Daisy just turned 2, I thought it would be the perfect time to do this one! We'll see how much I remember! (A little TMI warning, but it's a birth story, so...) I was in so much denial when I found out I was pregnant. I had been depressed while taking birth control so we decided I should stop. To us, this basically meant that we were going to try to have a baby. (Funny story: Right before we reached a decision, it was raining and there were worms on the sidewalk and I thought about how fun it would be to show my child the worms and jump in rain puddles - and that was my "you should have a baby" moment.) And then I got pregnant pretty fast, so I just couldn't believe it. Jonathan had to go get the pregnancy tests and I took like 2 or 3 because I was sure I had done it wrong. And then it wasn't until we saw her on the ultrasound, giving us a little wave hello, that I finally accepted it.  I did get ...

The Me Monthly - Volume 9

Image
ME THIS MONTH Oooooooh Maaaaaarch. You brought me food poisoning, my worst flare-up yet, and a stomach flu baby scare. All while I was trying to be good and exercise! But I'm a wimp and so those types of things just make me not want to do anything - so I don't. But you also had lots of fun times with friends and some interesting changes! Jonathan was called to be the executive secretary in our ward so we have a little less time with him on Sundays, but I think this will be good. Speaking of church, we're excited for conference and Easter this weekend! I'm super boring and so Daisy won't be getting a present-filled Easter basket (I didn't ever get one growing up and I turned out ok), but we did get her a new little bunny and we'll give her a book, so that's something I guess. We will be spending the weekend with family and I think that's the best part of a holiday anyway! Other things of note this month is the wonderful Oscars party hosted by th...

Completed - Decorate Birds

Image
33. Decorate those birds (3/24/2018) I bought these birds at a wood shop's closing sale last year. I usually get craft stuff and never do anything with it, but I didn't want that to happen to these! And bam! Here they are, all done and matching a future comforter for Daisy! I'm really happy with how they turned out. I especially like the wing cut-outs :) Hooray for monthly craft nights!

Completed - Natural Hair Lookin' Good

Image
4. Discover how to make my natural hair look good enough for a public appearance (3/18/2018) If you didn't know, my hair is not naturally straight. It's nearly always straight - but that takes blow drying it as straight as I can, then separating it into 2-3 layers and straightening it. While this can be pretty time-consuming for me, I just didn't know what to do with my naturally frizzy, wavy, super poofy hair! These pictures below show what my hair REALLY looks like. I parted it and brushed it once after I got out of the shower, then just let it air dry. And yeah. Definitely not straight. I knew that I probably needed to use some kind of product to tame it, but I didn't want to waste money on stuff that wouldn't work for me. Luckily, my fantastic sister-in-law Kenzie and my always awesome best friend Amanda let me borrow some curling sprays that they had. I tried all of these...(Pantene curling spray, tossd sea salt spray, TRESemme flawless curl mousse) ...

Completed - New/Fitted Bras

Image
30. Get my real bra measurement and get at least two bras that fit (2/26/2018) I was in serious need of a new bra. I only had one that wasn't a nursing bra, and it was old. Like I wore it in high school old, and the underwire had snapped right before Christmas. It definitely didn't fit anymore either, and I didn't know my size to buy a new one! I had been "fitted" at Victoria's Secret right before I got married (she looked at me and told me what my size was), but that size didn't actually fit. I had a friend (thanks Sara!) suggest going to Nordstrom, and I was able to plan a trip up  to the SLC store around New Year's. It was a really great experience - the lady who helped me answered all my questions, actually measured me, brought me lots of options, and I now know my size! I am kind of cheap though, so I didn't actually buy a bra there. I ended up going to JC Penney a week or so later and searched through all the different styles until I fina...
