Jonathan Cameron is He | #22 - Relationship
22. Be in a relationship - DONE 8/11/14
So this is the day that we decided to start dating, but I'll start this story a little earlier than that.
Kind of a "here's how we met and stuff" story.
The first time I saw Jonathan was in January of 2014. He taught Sunday School and he gave a wonderful lesson. I thought, "man, this guy is a good teacher and he's pretty cute too.." AND he blessed the sacrament. I wished I could get to know him or meet him or something, but I was too nervous to approach him or even figure out HOW to approach him, so I just had the thought, enjoyed how cute he was, and didn't do anything about it. Typical me.
At the end of May, Amanda (roommate/best friend) and I were invited to a movie night by Myke, our totally awesome home teacher. Myke also invited HIS home teacher...Jonathan! (Diligent home teaching, you guys. It's basically the reason we met.) There was just a little group of us, but after the movie, we all talked and laughed and eventually ended up playing my Wii until super late. It was a blast! I was talking with guys! Hanging out with guys! What?!
(This was my first time interacting with Jonathan. While I thought he was cute and funny, I kind of had a crush on someone else at this point. So nothing yet...but stay tuned!)
Over the next two months we hung out with Myke a lot, and Jonathan would come sometimes. Getting to know these guys was great, but not getting asked on dates was kind of hard. I got over my crush and honestly decided that I was fine not dating anyone or even liking anyone at the moment. I had some things I wanted to focus on
And then...Jonathan asked me out.
He was so cute too! While we were all hanging out one night we were talking about dating and I mentioned that I hadn't been on a date in a year and a half. When we left together, he said,
"So...you haven't been on a date in a while. We need to change that."
We went to see Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1st. It was just a movie, but that was totally fine with me!! We had been progressively sitting closer to each other at movie/game nights, but on the date...he held my hand the entire movie! Haha :) He didn't want me to write that, but it's a big part of what happened next, because....
I was going a little crazy. The whole movie I was thinking things like:
"holy cow, he likes me!"
"does this mean he likes me?"
"do I like him?"
"that racoon is hilarious. this is a great movie"
"does this mean we're dating?"
"would I want to date him?"
"what does this mean?!!"
I know, I know. Typical girl. I go on one date, he holds my hand, and I'm already thinking about a relationship. But I had a lot to think about! I had never dated anyone and I figured that this was how relationships start sometimes...So holding hands was a big deal for me. Also, remember how I had recently decided that I was okay being single? I had a lot to think about, a lot to pray about, and a lot to talk to my mom about.
For the next week, we spent every day together. We played games (he won every game, but I beat him soundly at Mancala), we watched Avatar: the Last Airbender, we talked about EVERYTHING, and we laughed a lot. I also showed him my 101 list. After looking over everything, he said that he wanted to help me with it. That was the moment I was sure I would like to date him. He wanted to help me accomplish my goals?! Cool!!
On August 11th, we were up talking until SUPER late, the subject came up, and we were both brave enough to say "yes I want to date you". After we had already decided we were dating, he said, "Wait! We have to do this right." He grabbed my hands and dramatically said, "Emily, will you be my girlfriend?" Hello soap opera. He's a goof :)
And bam! I had my first ever boyfriend! I couldn't believe it!
And then the next day I didn't get to see him because he was going to a concert with friends.
Just my luck. I get a boyfriend and I don't even get to see him the next day.
But!
Since August 13th, I have seen him every single day up until now.
Because you know...2 months into dating we got engaged...
and another 2 1/2 months after that we got married. Haha :)
And I'd say that accomplishes my be in a relationship goal! The first time I'm in a relationship, and it turned out pretty good :) There was so much prayer that went into this whole relationship process. It definitely surprised me, but I am so blessed. Jonathan is wonderful. He's my best friend. We have our challenges and we have things we need to work on, but I wouldn't want to go through life with anyone else. Since day one, I could be myself around him. I didn't have to act a certain way or dumb myself down. We can talk about anything and we make each other laugh. I can't wait to see where life takes us!

I love it! You two really are perfect for each other. C'mon, I need to hear the first kiss story! Maybe I'll have to get it in person some time. :)
