The Me Monthly - Volume 8
ME THIS MONTH
February! What a month. It's always amazing to me how many things can come up when you originally didn't have much planned. And yet as I'm about to start writing this I feel like I'm going to say the same things I always do! I ended up working a lot and doing some extra/new stuff (coupon book ads!!), I spent a lot of time with friends, had a really bad weekend, had a really good weekend, and got a few things passed off from my list! Maybe next time I plan my month (sometime in the next 24 hours) I should just assume that this same stuff will happen. If I consciously expect these "spontaneous" things, then I won't be so thrown off when it all comes up again. I mean, they're always a little different, but in essence it's all pretty similar. And honestly that's one reason why I'm so happy to have this list to do! It spices things up :)
I did have a really good birthday though! That doesn't happen every month :) Jonathan was super sweet and got me some awesome stuff: a yoga mat, some small brush pens, a board game, and a back/shoulder massager. Then that night we went to dinner at Zupa's with Amanda and Myke, and they bought me a piece of yummy cake! They also brought me some truffles and a present - my favorite candy bar - from work. (Amanda and I work for the same place.) And earlier that week, Saya brought me a dozen donuts!! If you're wondering if I lost any weight this month, all these sweet presents should tell you very clearly - No. I didn't. But if you check out my focus group for this month, you'll see that I'll soon be trying to haha :) Anyway! Thank you to all who wished me a Happy Birthday or spent it with me making it so. Here's to another year older and a new month!
Watching: This Is Us! Finally got around to it, and I just finished season 1 last night. Good, funny, and emotional. I only cried in the last 2 or 3 episodes though. I just love Randall and William.
Eating: snow. It's kind of weird and I don't know why I do it, but I really like eating snow. (only clean stuff and just off the top!) Just thinking about it makes me want to go grab a handful haha
Excited: for Spring! I do like snow and how it smells and looks (and tastes haha), but I'm really excited for it to be warm and to take Daisy to the park and go on walks...I know we've still got a little bit longer until it's really warm, but it's coming!!
THE FOCUS GROUP
4. Discover how to make my natural hair look good enough for a public appearance
I haven't bought any products yet, but my sister-in-law Kenzie let me borrow some stuff: tossd sea salt spray and TRESemme mousse. I have tried both and they both work really well! My hair likes curls. The only thing I'm a little hung up on is that my hair also gets really frizzy so I need to figure out how to tame that. I also just need to get used to seeing my hair curly and not perfectly straight. And this is why, even though I had my hair curly and went to church, I'm not going to count this one complete yet. I just didn't think it actually looked good enough to be out of the house and I wasn't very confident. But I'm pretty sure I can count it as complete very soon.
42. Exercise 4 days/week for a month (4 weeks)
The main idea and hope for this goal is that it will help me turn exercising into a habit. I really need to be active and to get my body in shape. I want to not feel gross, I want to see if it will help my restless leg/arm syndrome, and I want to not be so exhausted all the time. Wish me luck!
53. Learn the health benefits of different fruits and vegetables
I've always been interested in what's inside things and what makes them good for you. For this goal I want to look up books or articles about common fruit or vegetables (the ones I would eat) and what's good about them! I also want to know what happens when you cook, freeze, blend, or microwave them - if it takes away nutrients or anything like that. If you know of any resources to find this stuff, let me know! I'm going to be doing a lot of research :)
KEEPING YOU POSTED
15. For one year go to the temple once a month
For February, Jonathan and I did an endowment session. I had a really good experience and I just love the temple! I really like this goal, and I want to keep it up after the year is up.
20. Read the Book of Mormon twice during the list
I just got into Alma today! I'm slow-going, but I'm still going! I even started doing a scripture journal along with reading, which is something I've always felt like I needed to do but never started.
50. Write in my journal at least once a week for a year
So far so good on this one since starting again! I did miss a week writing in my actual journal, but it's the same week I started doing my scripture journal, so I'm still going to count it. Just 49 weeks to go!
NUMBERED NEWS
48. Watch 5 new anime by myself
2. Snow White with the Red Hair (2/3/18) - Sooooo CUTE. I was squealing from pure cuteness nearly every episode. The story was so great - not overly dramatic or contrived. Just good. Also, Shirayuki is the best female anime character ever. I want to be her.

18. Rising Sun (2/4/18)
85. Watch 51 new movies (at least 15 award-winning)

DAISY'S BOOK OF THE MONTH
A little while ago, some friends in our ward let Daisy look at their daughter's books during sacrament meeting. One of them was a flap book and she LOVED it. Since then I've been wanting to get her a book with flaps. Then I found this one on sale on Amazon: Peek-a-Flap Zoo!
It's super cute, the flaps are really durable, and Daisy loves it. It came in on Tuesday and it's been read at least 20 times already. There are two others, Moo (farm) and Who (forest), and I totally want to get them too.
THIS IS USSSSSSSS! Yay! Haha I don't cry every episode either but I watched the first one RIGHT after I had Jack and I sobbed cause all that hospital stuff was just too real (except... my baby is fine haha). But I'm so glad you love it! Randall and Jack are probably my favorite characters. You'll have to tell me what you think of season two - Riss and I discuss it all the time, you should join us! :D
ReplyDeleteALSO I know we've all told you on Marco Polo but your curly hair is SO CUTE. I tried some sea salt spray on my hair after seeing yours and it turned out......... super flat and the same and maybe a little flippy but definitely not curly. Haha. So I think you should flaunt the curls since you've got em!
And go you for exercising! You can do it, and you will be awesome!!!
I would love to join your discussion!! I'm about halfway through the second season (or at least what's out).
DeleteThank you!!! You guys are all so nice about it, it's really helping me feel better about how it's looking.
And thanks! I'm going to need all the encouragement I can get haha
