The Me Monthly - Volume 4
ME THIS MONTH
October was full of lots of last minute, very involved events. I helped my old work for a few afternoons, with notice only the day before that I was needed. I decided to go to St. George for my soon-to-be sister-in-law's bridal shower just a few days before it happened. And I did some "we need this as soon as possible" photo optimization for work. I also designed another wedding invitation, so there were multiple weeks where as soon as Daisy was in bed I would start working until late. And I have been slightly procrastinating another big project, but I finally buckled down and it's nearly finished. Working from home is great, but sometimes it can be very tiring.
In the middle of the month, Daisy and I got fevers and colds. Not fun, but I think we're basically recovered now. Overall it was a good month, but it went by super fast! Halloween is tomorrow! I'm super lame and not even Daisy has a costume. I wanted to dress her as a character from My Neighbor Totoro, but I couldn't find a key element and so I gave up. But we're not going anywhere, so I'll probably only feel a little sad when I see everyone's cute pictures and then I'll be over it.
I definitely noticed a decline in enthusiasm and accomplishments for my list this month. I'm sure it will happen every so often (and I have to keep telling myself that), but after passing off 5 things last month, it's quite the contrast. Maybe I need to reevaluate what I choose for the focus group or give long-term goals more of a spotlight. I'll have to think about that this month. Any suggestions for motivation are appreciated!
Watching: Sarah & Duck! It's Daisy's new favorite show. I like it a lot too haha :)
Wearing: socks and blankets - the cold is coming!
Reading: Harry Potter, obviously
Smelling: a yummy fall scent in the wax warmer :D
Feeling: glad I got to reconnect with some high school friends at a girls night! (s/o to Shayna (and Morgan haha), Jessica, Meg, Saya, and Amanda!)
THE FOCUS GROUP
10. Learn how to tie 10 different knots
I've honestly not done anything on this one. To actually accomplish it, I'm challenging myself to have a Knotty Knovember!
45. Organize and backup my computer files, pictures, music, etc.
I started doing this on my laptop. I want to clear tons of stuff off of it and just use it for a few games and internet browsing when I'm on the couch. I've barely cracked the surface on going through pictures though. I have so many of Daisy and I have a hard time deleting any of them because she's so CUTE!! I think I want to get a second hard drive or something just for pictures. We'll see!
61. Take care of all my stuff at my parents'
I started this one on my trip to St George this month. I went through two of my huge plastic bins and a dresser, throwing away half the stuff that was in them. There were still things that I wasn't ready to throw away yet, but the time will come I'm sure. I think I only have one bin of school stuff and part of a closet still to go through. I should be down in St George a few more times in the next two months and I hope to be able to take care of the rest of it!
63. Read all the Harry Potter books again
Thanks to in-laws, I have finished the first two Harry Potter books and I'm almost halfway through the third! I'm really enjoying reading again :)
LONG-TERM BEGINNINGS
50. Write in my journal at least once a week for a year
I want to start this one now so I can get this year's holidays in. Then when it's a habit, I can write about next year's holidays, and the next, and the next...and everything else that will happen from here on out! I'm so excited to start this up again. It's been way too long.
KEEPING YOU POSTED
15. For one year go to the temple once a month
This month was a little different - we went and helped clean the temple! I got to vacuum some sealing rooms, one of the veils and half of the celestial room! It was really cool and I'm grateful for the experience :)
17. Lose 3 inches off current waist measurement
Pretty sure I've actually gained three inches since starting the list. While this goal is probably going to last nearly the whole list, I felt like I needed to admit to not doing anything that would help accomplish it. I am a lazy dessert-muncher.
20. Read the Book of Mormon twice during the list
I did way better with this one this month! I got into 2 Nephi :) I've started reading right after I put Daisy down for her nap, and it's been working really well. I had a super busy week, and it was the same week I started reading every day. I noticed that I didn't get as stressed as I typically would have. Hooray for scripture reading and the blessings it brings!
38. Start an Etsy
So this is going to be just an Etsy shop for sure. I don't think I could do a Creative Market shop. But that's ok, and I've updated the master list. :) Now that I've made a few wedding announcements for friends and family, I want it to be a one of the main things I do. They're super fun! Still struggling with a shop name though. Any suggestions?
NUMBERED NEWS
5. Try 5 Oreo flavors I've never had before
3. Cinnamon Bun (they were okay - just a little too sweet for me)
85. Watch 51 new movies (at least 15 award-winning)
13. The BFG (10/15/17)
14. Kung Fu Panda 3 (10/22/17)
15. The Sixth Sense (10/31/17)
86. Go to 15 new eateries
1. Station 22 (10/13/17) I got Mac and Cheese with pulled pork. It was pretty good!
DAISY'S BOOK OF THE MONTH
When I went to buy Daisy's book this month, I had every intention of getting something fall or Halloween themed. Or even gospel-related because I went to Seagull Book. But we ended up with this one:
Omg how did I miss this!!?? I'll be thinking of a shop name with you!
