The Me Monthly - Volume 3

Before I started these, I decided that I would give myself a day or two before/after the last day of the month to post them. So here's this one - right on the edge of my deadline!

ME THIS MONTH
September has been great! We took a trip to St. George towards the beginning of the month, just for fun! We hadn't been down there in a while and my parents hadn't seen Daisy in months, so we just wanted to hang out :) We went to a park, the carousel, and Daisy had lots of fun with her cousins. Jonathan and I also spent some time on Saturday night going on a little date to Sweet Tooth Fairy and to a board game store, where we bought a game called Agricola. It's a very involved, strategic, long game, but it's super fun. I honestly don't want to write out everything else that happened, so here's a cute bulleted list :)

Other things of note this month:
• Completed 5 things from my list! I felt so accomplished!
• Finished Gilmore Girls! (I did have a few issues, but overall I loved it!!)
• Watched General Conference this weekend
• Saw many good friends! (Shout-outs to Sara, Saya, Meg, Shayna, and Amanda!)
• Helped a friend move her business to a new location
• Dealt with lots of baby grumps (teething is the worst)
• Started watching Stranger Things (finally jumping on the bandwagon!)

Enjoying: a little more freedom from work. I didn't have to do much this month at all.
Noticing: that the weather is changing! We didn't have to turn on our swamp cooler for more than half of September. That will be awesome for our electricity bill, but now it will be getting cold :(
Pinning: peach cobbler and pumpkin recipes
Buying: fall/winter (and bigger!) clothes for Daisy. Or at least trying to. I want to buy used to save money like I usually do, but it's been harder than normal this time around.
Excited: for all the holidays coming up!

Last thing - share with me some ideas for sign-offs! I get so caught up in saying something cute or silly or relatable, that it's usually the thing that takes me the longest when I write a post! Should I pick a couple and rotate? Have some rotated ones, but then special ones for other things? Do questions? Does it matter...? haha :) Just looking for ideas/feedback/etc. Thanks!

THE FOCUS GROUP
10. Learn how to tie 10 different knots
I've already learned a few as a leader in Scouts, so I just need to pick a few more and do them!

45. Organize and backup my computer files, pictures, music, etc.
I need to do this so badly. After last month filled with lots work, I realized my files are a MESS. And if I want to do more design, I feel like I need to have some organization!

63. Read all the Harry Potter books again
I have only read these once, and it was after I watched the last movie. It's been a few years, and this was even on my last list. I feel like October/November/December are the perfect months for reading Harry Potter. Thankfully I have friends and family that will let me borrow them so I don't have to fight other people at the library!

LONG-TERM BEGINNINGS
97. Get all achievements and reach level 10 on all skills in Stardew Valley
I'm not sure how long this will take me, so I'm putting this one here. My crazy month didn't leave much time for personal fun - like computer games - and I want to start up again! My current stats are below! I obviously need to do a lot of fishing...
Skills: 10/10 Farming • 8/10 Mining • 8/10 Foraging • 1/10 Fishing • 7/10 Combat
Achievements: 10/22

KEEPING YOU POSTED
15. For one year go to the temple once a month
In September I went with Amanda to do initiatory! Two months down, 10 to go!

20. Read the Book of Mormon twice during the list
Really not doing very well on this one. I mentioned a last month that Jonathan and I are trying to read it individually before the end of the year. Luckily you can recommit to something as many times as you want. So here's me recommitting to this one! I've got 91 days and a little under 500 pages to go!

90. Save $10 for every item completed
Amount saved: $80
Full disclosure, I'm keeping track, but I've only put in $40 so far. Need to catch up on this one!

NUMBERED NEWS
5. Try 5 Oreo flavors I've never had before
1. Apple Pie - Limited Edition (super yummy!)
2. Salted Carmel Thins (AMAZING!! My new favorite.)

49. Play 51 new games (at least 15 award-winning)
6. Katamari Forever (9/1/17)
7. Agricola (9/10/17) *1 - Spiel des Jahres, Best Complex Game 2008*

85. Watch 51 new movies (at least 15 award-winning)
12. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (9/4/17)

DAISY'S BOOK OF THE MONTH
I bought another book from my childhood this month and it's by Dr. Suess - And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street

So far we haven't made it through this one. I think it's mostly because there's so much text. Daisy likes being read to, but if we're on the same page for too long she gets annoyed. I try shortening it, but it's a work in progress. Either way, I'm thinking this will be a better option for when she's older.

Comments

  1. Dude, I need to give you my boxes of clothes! I don't have a ton because we also use hand me downs from my sister, but still!
