The Me Monthly - Volume 9
ME THIS MONTH
Oooooooh Maaaaaarch. You brought me food poisoning, my worst flare-up yet, and a stomach flu baby scare. All while I was trying to be good and exercise! But I'm a wimp and so those types of things just make me not want to do anything - so I don't. But you also had lots of fun times with friends and some interesting changes! Jonathan was called to be the executive secretary in our ward so we have a little less time with him on Sundays, but I think this will be good. Speaking of church, we're excited for conference and Easter this weekend! I'm super boring and so Daisy won't be getting a present-filled Easter basket (I didn't ever get one growing up and I turned out ok), but we did get her a new little bunny and we'll give her a book, so that's something I guess. We will be spending the weekend with family and I think that's the best part of a holiday anyway!
Other things of note this month is the wonderful Oscars party hosted by the Emals (always a good time), the Pinewood Derby I got to help run for scouts, and Jonathan's mission reunion! I got to meet his mission president, Elder Palmer (now a member of the 70), and he is awesome. But yeah! This month was crazy, and mostly okay. I'm excited for next month - it's Jonathan's and Daisy's birthdays! But I'm also not excited for it. I have to get a colonoscopy...pray for me haha :)
And finally, today marks 2 years left on my list! I'm feeling really good about my progress, and I think the monthly updates I've been doing have helped. I want to try to double how many I completed before, and if I keep up this pace I should definitely be able to do that!
Drinking: water! I'm trying to be a healthy kid. But I had to make myself stop before 8pm or I have to get up around 5am to pee.
Listening: to Hamilton!! I finally decided to see what all the hype was about and I am HOOKED. It is so good you guys. And the additional Benjamin Franklin song from The Decemberists is just fantastic. (If you haven't heard it, you should listen to it...and if you don't like the F-swear, there is a clean version you can listen to.)
Missing: feeling normal. I'm getting so tired of feeling gross and weird and tired.
Wearing: comfy pants. Always.
THE FOCUS GROUP
42. Exercise 4 days/week for a month (4 weeks)
Oh boy did this one take a beating. I dealt with Daisy throwing up, me getting food poisoning, getting cramps, having a flare up from whatever health issue I have...It did not go well. But I did try! And I've started waking up around 7 almost every morning. While I did get two full weeks, I'm just going to start over and try again next month.
53. Learn the health benefits of different fruits and vegetables
Thanks to the recommendation of my lovely friend Kathryn, I purchased a massive book that has the majority of the exact information I was hoping to learn through this goal! I've read the first two chapters and I already feel like my current eating habits are going to give me cancer, but I also feel like I can change! I'm excited to keep reading!
79. Write up Daisy's birth story
I'm planning to do this on Daisy's birthday, which is on the 22nd! I can't believe she's going to be 2!!
92. Do a
So I bought some mask/peel/whatever, and I just need to do it! I kept getting an ad for this one kind on Facebook and, while I never do this from ads like that, I bought it anyway. And I'm removing the word "charcoal" because this one isn't charcoal, but it's what I had in mind. I just didn't actually know what I wanted initially.
KEEPING YOU POSTED
15. For one year go to the temple once a month
This month Amanda and I went to do initiatory! We also ran into Melanie Manwaring, the bishop's wife of our old YSA ward. She is an absolute delight and it was so great to catch up with her :)
20. Read the Book of Mormon twice during the list
Been reading less this month. I normally read right after I put Daisy down for a nap, but I don't know, this month I just didn't. I'm recommitting to do better next month though!
50. Write in my journal at least once a week for a year
Started doing my journal during the day instead of right before bed and I haven't missed a week this month! I've really liked writing again.
NUMBERED NEWS
85. Watch 51 new movies (at least 15 award-winning)
26. Loving Vincent (3/3/18)
27. The Breadwinner (3/3/18)
28. Pacific Rim 2 (3/23/18)
86. Go to 15 new eateries
3. The Baked Bear (3/23/18) I got funfetti cookies with cake batter ice cream - yummy but expensive.
DAISY'S BOOK OF THE MONTH
I cut it REALLY close this month, but Jonathan saved me. He picked out and bought Daisy's book this month. And he did pretty great! He chose a classic: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
It's the board book version, which is good because Daisy gets destructive with paper sometimes. We'll give it to her tomorrow and see how she likes it!
Oh man, good luck with your health stuff!! I feel you, girl! I'm glad to help if you need an exercise or healthy eating buddy! :)
