The Me Monthly - Volume 5

ME THIS MONTH
This month was BUSY. Hence the later-than-I'd-like posting of my monthly update with a little-less-than-I'd-like amount of info on here. I've been working a ton, my little brother got married, Thanksgiving happened, and we've just had some extra stuff with friends and family. All good things, but all make for a busy month. I'm just tired. But December isn't going to be much different, so I need to buckle up! At least I have Christmas to look forward to!

Eating: the best homemade mac and cheese I have ever had. Seriously it's amazing. Link!
Makingour Christmas ornament for the year! We swirled paint in clear ball ornaments to represent us being more creative this year.
Enjoyingour Christmas decorations and tree!
Listening: to the Carpenter's Christmas album! It's not Christmas without it :)
(obviously right after Thanksgiving, Christmas was all that mattered haha)

THE FOCUS GROUP
So I've gotten into a winter funk (and I've been working a lot), so I'm going to rethink which ones I'm working on this month. I'm taking off "learn how to tie 10 different knots" and will come back to it in a little while, and I'm moving "organize and backup my computer files, etc" to a long-term goal. I think it's going to take me a lot longer than I think it will. I'm a file hoarder.

41. Design a personal logo/brand
So I'll be doing this one this month because of an exciting list item I get to cross off! More info coming soon :)

61. Take care of all my stuff at my parents'
We'll be going down on the 15th and again over Christmas, so I hope to finish this one this month! I'm sure my mom will appreciate that too ;)

63. Read all the Harry Potter books again
I finished the 4th one during November and I started the 5th one last weekend! This may be the only thing I've really been working on, but at least it's giving me a sense of accomplishment even though I've been feeling list lazy!

LONG-TERM BEGINNINGS
1. Learn a style of lettering and create a piece of decor
I started practicing lettering this month! Sara and I got together and even did a craft night for it. I found which type of pen I like best so far - a small brush pen, the big ones are just too big for me right now haha. I've done a few practice sheets and I've done my name a ton, but I still have a long way to go.

KEEPING YOU POSTED
15. For one year go to the temple once a month
For November I went to my little brother's sealing! It was so sweet and I'm so happy for Peter and Zoa! In December I'll be going to another sealing, which I might count as my trip to the temple, but I really need to get back to doing ordinances. December is really busy, so if I can't make it I'll still have been at the temple, but I do want to try to go do ordinances. I'm just glad I've been able to be IN the temple once a month, which is definitely better than nothing.

20. Read the Book of Mormon twice during the list
So I won't be finishing the Book of Mormon by the end of the year like I've mentioned a few months ago that we were trying to do. But! I have been consistently reading every weekday and I'm really happy about that. I can tell that even the small steps I've been taking have been making a difference :)

50. Write in my journal at least once a week for a year
So I started the first week of November, and I only missed one week! I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do to make up for missing a week (hopefully I don't have to worry about it again). Maybe I'll add a week on to the end? I think that may work best.

NUMBERED NEWS
5. Try 5 Oreo flavors I've never had before
4. Mystery! (tasted exactly like fruity pebbles. Yummy in milk, but I wouldn't eat very many)

49. Play 51 new games (at least 15 award-winning)
8. Terror in Meeple City (11/11/17)
9. Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig (11/10/17)

85. Watch 51 new movies (at least 15 award-winning)
16. The Giver (11/19/17)

DAISY'S BOOK OF THE MONTH
This month I went to peruse and plunder the DI book shelves. Sometimes you can find some good stuff! It takes some serious digging though. But I was victorious and I came out with an I Spy Christmas book, and this one: Under the Silvery Moon.

It has a poem about a Mama cat telling her kitten what nighttime noises are happening outside. It seemed like a good one to read right before naps or bed time, and we don't have many books like that. So far we've only gotten through it once, and it involved a lot of wiggling. Daisy likes the cats, but it hasn't really kept her attention. I think she just needs to get used to it though and she'll end up liking it more :)
